Our Guide to Mexico City

Photo by Bhargava Marripati of Mexico City on Unsplash

For our wedding anniversary, my wife and I took a trip to Mexico City, and I’m not gonna lie…this might be one of my favorite cities we’ve ever visited.

The food? Elite.
The design? Thoughtful.
The vibes? Effortless.

It felt like a city where you can slow down and explore. So of course, we had to run it back the WYAT?! way and put together a guide to help you move with intention when you visit.

✈️ First Things First: When You Land

Quick tip, get pesos at the airport, but do it smart.

Stick to official ATMs like BBVA, Citibanamex, Santander, or HSBC. When the machine asks you to β€œlock in” an exchange rate… DECLINE it. Trust me, your bank will give you a better rate.

Also:

  • Check the card reader before inserting your card

  • Cover the keypad when typing your PIN

Little things, but they matter.

🍽️ Our Itinerary (How We Did It)

We stayed in Roma Norte, which I highly recommend. Walkable, beautiful, and full of good food and design.

Night 1: Straight to the Vibes

We landed and didn’t waste time.

  • Bar Mauro β†’ set the tone (Top 50 bar, intimate vibes)

  • LicorerΓa Limantour β†’ if you go to ONE bar, make it this one

  • MΓ‘ximo β†’ Michelin star dinner, but still felt warm and intentional

  • Tlecān β†’ mezcal, culture, and a perfect late-night close

πŸ‘‰πŸΎ This night alone told us…yeah, we picked the right city.

Day 2: Design, Food, Repeat

  • PanaderΓa Rosetta β†’ one of the best bakeries I’ve been to

  • XinΓΊ Perfumes β†’ a full sensory experience (don’t skip this)

  • Architecture Walk β†’ Roma β†’ Reforma β†’ Chapultepec Park

Then we went crazy with food:

  • Quintonil (2 Michelin Stars) β†’ one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had

  • Reset + nap (VERY necessary in CDMX)

Back outside:

Day 3: Slow Morning, Heavy Culture

Then one of my favorite moments:

Night cap:

Day 4: Ease Into It

  • Odette Condesa β†’ soft morning, pastries

  • Walk Avenida Ámsterdam β†’ one of the best strolls in the city

Then dinner to close it out:

Last Day: One More Bite

Bars You Can’t Skip

πŸŒ† Final Thoughts

Mexico City is one of those places where you don’t need to rush.

Take your time. Walk more. Eat more. Sit a little longer.

It’s not about checking everything off, it’s about finding your rhythm in the city.

For us, this trip was about celebrating love, but we left with way more:

  • New inspiration

  • New favorite spots

  • And a reminder that the best travel experiences happen when you tap into the culture, not just the itinerary

Our Guide to Paramount’s 52nd Annual Summer Classic Film Series

Austin, this one is for the film lovers, the nostalgia chasers, and anybody who enjoys a good night at the movies.

We’re excited to partner with the iconic Paramount Theatre to spotlight their Summer Classic Film Series, a tradition that’s been bringing the city together since 1975.

This year, the series runs May 22-August 30, featuring 90+ films across genres, eras, and vibes. From cult classics to family favorites, this is your chance to experience these films the way they’re meant to be seen…on the big screen.

And this summer hits a little different. With the Paramount undergoing its first major restoration in over 50 years, screenings will also take place at the State Theatre and the Bullock Museum IMAX Theatre.

🎬 Why You Should Tap In

This isn’t just about watching movies, it’s about the experience.

Think:

  • Pre-film music and themed activations

  • Photo ops and community moments

  • Packed rooms full of people who really love film

It’s giving date night. It’s giving family outing. It’s giving β€œwe outside, but make it intentional.”

July 19th: Purple Rain

Prince. Music. Legacy. Enough said.

July 26th: Space Jam

Michael Jordan + Looney Tunes = elite nostalgia.

πŸ‘‰πŸΎ We’ll be hosting this one in person. Pull up!

July 30th: Juice

90s hip-hop culture in film form. A classic.

August 8th: Bring It On

Cheer, drama, and a little nostalgia with a pre-show performance twist.

August 20th: Boyz n the Hood

A powerful coming-of-age story that still hits today.
A film that shaped culture, conversation, and perspective.

πŸ‘‰πŸΎ We’ll also be hosting this screening. Don’t miss it.

🍿 How to Do It Right

Here’s how to tap in like a local:

  • Pick a few films and make a night out of it

  • Pull up early for the activations

  • Bring your people (or come solo and find some new ones)

Austin changes fast, but some things stay rooted and this series is one of them. For decades, the Summer Classic Film Series has been a space where the city comes together to experience storytelling, nostalgia, and culture on a big screen.

Now it’s your turn to be part of it.
