Auntie’s House: For the Nurturers (May ‘25 Recap)
This one was for the nurturers. 💐✨
On Mother’s Day, we gathered at Auntie’s House to celebrate the ones who pour into us; our Mamas, Aunties, Uncs, Grandmas, Big Cousins, OGs, Neighbors, and Chosen Family. The ones who hold it down behind the scenes and still manage to show up with love, laughter, and a full plate.
“For the Nurturers” was more than just a theme, it was a thank you. A collective love letter wrapped in music, joy, flowers, and the little things that make people feel seen.
As folks arrived, they were welcomed by the warmth of our sunflower photo wall by Rosie Flora Rentals, a radiant tribute to the light that caregivers bring into our lives. Nearby, our flower bouquet station with Florecita let folks build their own bundle of blooms—some as gifts, some just as reminders that they, too, deserve softness.
We slowed things down with intentional moments: coloring pages, board games, laughter from the kids’ corner, and music that hugged you from the inside out. The whole space felt like that back room at your auntie’s spot—the one where time didn’t matter, and you were free to just be.
We surprised folks with 100+ free cookies from the amazing Crisp N Chew, and partnered with Essence of Indigo for an hour of free massages. Because yes…rest is resistance and our people deserve it.
Of course, no Auntie’s House is complete without a proper soundtrack with our co-founder and resident vibe-setter Lauren Light featuring the soulful sounds of DJ Knstalgia and Kay Cali, who even brought her mama, which was a full-circle moment that had us all in our feels.
We also dropped exclusive WYAT?! merch, and if you know, you know—it flew.
This edition reminded us that care is a full-body experience. It’s hugs and bass lines. It’s flower petals and everlasting moments. It’s playlists and prayers. And on May 11th, we honored that in full.
To everyone who came out: thank you for choosing community. For slowing down. For showing up. We luh y’all. Always.
